I wanted to write and thank you so much for your endless support and assistance throughout my experience purchasing my wedding gown. You all went above and beyond when dealing with my requests and last minute changes. Also, when I was faced with a crisis over my veil just a week before the wedding, you all also treated it as an emergency and found a creative solution to solve my problem. Your customer service is top-of-the-line and your garments are of very high quality. I would gladly recommend you to anyone in need of a wedding gown or accessories. Thank you again - I appreciate everything that you did.
I want to thank you for all your help on my wedding dress. I was the one where everything went wrong. But, the dress did finally make it to Wisconsin. I received so many compliments - and the final alteration was perfect. I very much appreciate your assistance towards those last few days. Thanks again!
I just thought I would thank you all again *so* much for your help with my dress and jewelry, and pass along the photos from my wedding! As you'll see if you look at the photos, Pat's suggestion for the gold color sash ended up determining the whole color scheme-- the flowers, napkins, Pete's outfit, etc. Anyway, we were just thrilled with how the whole thing looked, and we are very grateful to all of you. I am especially appreciative of your willingness to help me with everything on such short time notice (especially Donna-- putting together an entirely new necklace at the last minute).
Anyway, thanks again and good luck with your future endeavors.
This is Amanda. I don't know if you remember me but I had gotten my first dress from another store but fell in love with a dress from your shop while there with my future sister in law. You both were so helpful with figuring out which size to order for our upcoming wedding as I was losing weight.
We were married on Maui, Hawaii on June 23, 2008 and it was the dream wedding. The dress was amazing - my husband Greg said it was "perfect." It looked amazing on the beach and in all the photos. I've attached a couple pictures from the wedding that capture the beauty of the dress so well on that amazing day.
I hope you are both doing well.
Take care and thank you again,
Ladies of West Main Bridal,
Just wanted to thank you again for all you did to make my wedding day perfect. I bought everything I wore for my wedding from you all - it was a great experience and turned out to be a beautiful day. The wedding took place at All Saints' Chapel in Sewanee, TN. Enjoy the attached photos, courtesy of my photographer Jennifer McVey!
One of my favorite parts of my wedding was my dress from West Main Bridal. It was as if it was designed just for me. I am so glad I went to West Main and found the dress just for me! Thank you Susan for all your help! I received my dress from the preservation company today!
I purchased my Maggie Sottero wedding gown from you last summer. The wedding was a huge success and everyone commented on how beautiful my dress was. Thank you for making my special day so beautiful!
I'm sorry I've been out of touch for so long, Graduation was very busy but good, despite the rain. I just wanted to thank you for all your help and patience with me and my (large) family; you made wedding dress shopping such a pleasurable experience! I had a great time and am so happy to have such a beautiful dress. Thank you also for the photography coupon and all the bridal magazines. This week we've been working on music, flowers, and a cake- there are so many details in this process! I hope that you are doing well! Thanks again for everything.
I wanted to say thank for helping me choose the wedding gown of my dreams. I felt more beautiful on the day of my wedding than I ever have in my life. The gown fit perfectly. Every time I looked in the mirror, it took my breath away. It was better than I dreamed my wedding day would be.
Farmville, NC I just wanted to thank you all for helping me find the perfect dress for my NC Debutante Ball. It was absolutely beautiful and no one had anything like it! I had a blast! Thanks again!
The dress was wonderful! We are still getting rave comments from our guests three months later. Ann was a gorgeous bride and they couldn't be happier! She took her top tier of the cake back to St. Louis where she was going to invite friends over, wear her dress and eat cake all over again - she really loved her gown!
Thanks for all you did to make our wedding so special.
—Bambi (happy MOB)

Thanks so much for sending me the pictures! I absolutely love my dress. It was a wonderful experience trying on dresses at your store and everyone was such a big help. I will call this week to set up a time to get measured again. Thanks again!
I purchased my wedding gown from West Main Bridal, and had a such a positive experience in every way. Susan and her staff were a delight to work with. Krista spent much time during multiple visits with me, showing me many possibilities from West Main's impressive selection. Her patience paid off, as I found just the right gown. West Main happily accommodated my many questions and requests along the way, making me feel special and attended to, just as one would want to feel when buying a special dress for a special day. I would heartily recommend West Main Bridal to any prospective bride. Thank you West Main Bridal!
One does not have to travel the world to find a perfect wedding dress. Susan Sorbello at West Main Bridal has it. She and her assistants are on top of all the latest fashions and know how each fits. Sitting in a comfy chair in her well-lit shop, I described to Susan my (probably contradictory) ideas concerning the look and fit of my potential wedding dress. She listened carefully, then pulled out four dresses, and one of them was “the one.” At West Main Bridal, I found shoes, a veil, and a pretty satin bloom for my hair. I found bridesmaid’s dresses in complimentary styles so each bridesmaid could wear the style she liked best. My experience at West Main Bridal has been everything I could have hoped for. Susan made finding a dress a lovely experience, and my mother and I had fun!
Planning a wedding is so many things: exciting, stressful, exhausting, and joyful. West Main Bridal added one more adjective to that list for me: relaxing. From the moment I first walked into the shop, Susan and Cindy made my entire experience pleasant and enjoyable.
My fiancé and I had just moved to Charlottesville and had no close friends or family in the area. Since our wedding will be here, I wanted to buy my gown locally. I found West Main online, and when my best friend came up from Chapel Hill for a weekend, we spent a Saturday afternoon searching for my dress.
Cindy was fantastic. She sat and talked with me about what styles I liked and what made me feel comfortable. I didn’t have many definite ideas, so she brought out several gorgeous dresses for me to try on. She was honest, incredibly helpful, and ever so patient – after a couple more visits, including a final visit with my mom, I ended up choosing the very first dress I’d tried on. When it arrived, it fit perfectly, and I’d never felt more beautiful. West Main even had the perfect shoes, headpiece, and necklace... what a pleasure!
Next came the bridesmaid dresses, and it was only natural that I’d want to have an equally pleasant experience. Susan was wonderful as I arranged for six Siri bridesmaid dresses, all in different styles and color combinations. Our bridesmaids were able to choose dresses they’d wear again, and they’re going to look stunning.
Every time I stepped into West Main Bridal, I felt as though the women there truly cared about me and my wedding day. They were helpful, gave wonderful advice, and really listened. Being far from my mom and sisters during this time, I expected this particular part of wedding planning to be difficult and emotional. It was, in fact, quite the opposite. While nothing can replace family when it comes to choosing a wedding dress, Susan and Cindy were a close second. Thank you, West Main, for making everything a bit more beautiful!
I want to say thank you so much for doing a wonderful job for me on my dress. I thank you so much for pulling it all together. I loved how the dress turned out so much. Thank you for your superb help and talent! and support to the very end! Please say hello to Alissa and Cindy for me. We're wishing you all a Merry Christmas and hope to see you in the New Year. Peace & Love.
Thank you for your quick reply and kind words. The magazine should be on newsstands around Virginia in January or February 2007. We are excited to be a featured couple!
I was beyond thrilled with my wedding gown and veil, and with my entire experience in working with you and the team at West Main Bridal. From the moment I walked into your shop, I was greeted warmly and had more personal attention than I ever thought I would receive when shopping for a gown. Every visit to West Main Bridal was a real treat! You worked with me to custom-make my gown and it turned out incredibly beautifully and fit perfectly. I loved the special custom details such as the sash, the ruching at the top, and my gorgeous veil. You had an amazing ability to read what I wanted, and delivered it in a way that surpassed my expectations. Thank you for all of the personal attention you gave me and my family prior to my wedding. The end result was a gorgeous ensemble that I truly loved. I could not have been happier with my wedding day attire, and would recommend your services to any bride looking for a wonderfully personalized experience!
Thank you again for everything!

“Everything was wonderful! Lisa was so helpful and we found the perfect dress after searching over 4 states for what I wanted. I would highly recommend this store to any bride for their beautiful wedding dresses and great service.”
“Shopping for the bridal gown should be a day etched in my daughter’s memory as a magical day long remembered. Our day started out as a “girls” day — Mom, Daughter, and Aunt. We were on the road headed south, expecting a full day's drive to the gown of my daughter’s dreams. The shop called with a frantic message that the gown was no longer in stock. After stopping for coffee and calling four states and multiple shops, we found it.
“Lisa was so reassuring and very calmly convinced us that West Main Bridal could surely fit my daughter with her dream dress. Susan and Lisa were so patient and indeed, they were correct! The Mother of the Bride has “Juliet” in a designer gown of a young woman’s fantasy - an heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation. Thank you Lisa and Susan! The five hour drive north to Charlottesville was such a lovely day. You two compliment each other perfectly.”

Dear Susan, I want to thank you again for the beautiful wedding gown and veil that you created for my daughter Elizabeth. she loved her dress; it made her feel and look like a princess. It remained gorgeous when it was bustled as the enclosed "First Dance" photo shows. You made her dreams come true and I am so grateful.
Susan - I have been waiting for the pictures of the wedding - but they are taking forever - the dress/es were fabulous and I got many compliments. When the pictures come - I will drop one by.
Susan - Thank you so much for your help with the dress, especially considering the time constraint. It was the perfect dress for the island & the wedding was beautiful.
Thank you for my beautiful beautiful gown. You put so much work into it and I appreciate everything. It meant a lot to us that you were able to travel to be with us on our special day. I will send you copies of any really good shots of the dress, although I know you took some pictures yourself. Thanks again for making me feel like a fairy princes.

“I met Susan through Carla Quenneville the owner of Les Fabriques. Susan is a designer of wedding dresses. I was getting married in August and I had taken a new job where I was traveling. I had purchased two wedding dresses and didn't like either one of them and went to see Susan pretty much at the last minute. She made me the most beautiful, beautiful, silk, burned out velvet dress with a hip wrap - kind of a Marilyn Monroe style. It turned out absolutely beautiful.
“She was delightful to work with. I only had a couple of weeks before I got married when I purchased the dress and she met me there every night for fittings, she was very flexible. I simply loved the dress, my husband loved the dress, everyone loved the dress. It was elegant and simple yet very, very, stylish. As soon as I put the dress on, I knew it was perfect.”

“I originally came to Susan Sorbello when I was planning my wedding. What had happened was I was looking through lots of magazines trying to get ideas about what kind of bridal gown I wanted and none of them really fit the bill. I finally came across one that I liked but there were certain aspects of it I wasn't sure that I really thought were “me”. So I went to Richmond to try some on, I went to Washington DC to try some on and wound up in Baltimore trying the dress on that I thought was probably the closest to what I liked. The dress wound up looking nothing like the picture and I was really disappointed.
“So I came back and I started my search for someone who could make a dress, (that I had in my head that I really wanted), that had a lot of the aspects of the one dress in the picture that I liked that turned out to look nothing like it did on the model on me. And so I called Susan because I was referred to her from a client of mine and I told her that I had a dress in mind that I wanted to see if she could actually build.
“She set up an appointment and I came in and I showed her the picture of the dress. She explained why the dresses in the magazines don't look quite like they do in the magazines on the models as they do on me; and was able to actually piece together a dress based on my recommendations and my ideas. She made the most perfect dress for me and it fit me perfectly and it was very flattering to me. It looked so much better than anything in any magazine that I even could dream up and it looked better than I even thought it would (which is pretty rare).
“I thought she was fantastic. I told her she was the best-kept secret in Charlottesville, that I never dreamt I could have a dress that would look like that. So I will always treasure that. ”
“So she actually formed the dress around not only what you wanted, but your personality and she took the time to talk with you?”
“Right, I went back to her several different times for fittings and she was very patient with me. At one point I wanted sleeves on it, (which wasn't even in the original design) and she went to the trouble to draw the sleeve and make the sleeve and then, probably about 3 weeks before the wedding, when she was getting ready to attach the sleeve, I ditched the sleeve. And she was OK with that and she smiled and laughed with me. It was really neat because I felt like she was a very integral part to my wedding because my dress was so important to me. That was the one thing that I kept telling my, now, husband that was really important to me, was that the dress was perfect, and it was.”
“Do you think the dress was you; how would you describe it; was it everything you wanted?”
“It was everything I wanted, it was completely different fabric from the fabric that was in the magazine which I almost wound up buying (which I’m so glad I didn’t). We picked out my fabric, that I liked, that I had always wanted. And changed the design in ways that flattered me more and added things that weren't in the original picture that I thought would look good, that really turned out beautiful, so it was definitely a custom made design. ”
“Did you feel special?”
“Oh, I felt beautiful, I felt like a princess.”
“So you bought two dresses?”
“No, I didn't buy anything, I tried on three, I tried on the one in Richmond, the one in Baltimore and I went up to DC, but I never actually got anywhere because I couldn't find anything I liked. There were dresses that just looked ridiculously ‘frou-frou’, there were some that were just too feminine, some that were too simple and I guess I just had to find the right one — so she made me one.”
“How long from beginning to end did it take?”
“About four months but I think it was because I went in really early because I was worried, I didn’t know how much time it would take. It was ready when I wanted it, so she did a bang up job."
